Mission Core Group

Many people have been asking just how we are organizing ourselves to help bring this church into active life.

It is simple:  We consider ourselves a Mission Group of dedicated and energetic Orthodox Christians who feel that there is an excellent opportunity for Growth in the teachings of our Faith, and want to spread the Love and Compassion of God's Will through Prayer and Celebration.  We created an Action Plan that we formatted as a group, and work hard to accomplish our goals.

We are looking for people to join our Core Group - to help develop our little church into something absolutely exciting and strong, so if you have the desire and energy to help make great things happen, please let us know.

Much of our initial work is now getting on its feet, and it is time to start evaluating and adjusting.  Please become part of this amazing group.

Youth Group/Church School

Since we all need to occasionally refresh ourselves spiritually, we thought that this might be a nice way to segway into our new Church School Program.

We have started a different kind of an idea for a Church School Program for KIDS and ADULTS.

Our younger ones will have a program that is being created to make it exciting and entertaining.  The kids will have many opportunities to learn, build, and/or sing each week.

We are developing a learning forum of Questions/Answers for our adults after church.  This type of informal setting has proven to be very valuable, and is peaking the interest of our people.

With so much interest in adults wanting to learn (and become) Orthodox, and some of our men also expressing sincere interest wanting to become Tonsured Readers, we will learn together.

We are also working on some activities over the course of the next couple of months.  Some ideas include:  Going on Field Trips (church related: like visiting an Orthodox monastery, or other churches); Maybe inviting a visiting speaker; Or maybe not even necessarily church related events like:  bowling, a barbecue, theater or museum.

Please watch for announcements.
Neighborhood Ministries

There are so many great ideas that have been mentioned on how to get included and become part of the neighborhood.  If anyone has any ideas, please write/e-mail them to us.  We love ideas.

We have some community events in the planning stages.  They include many ideas as meals, seminars, support groups, and fund raisers.

We have been developing a relationship with The Information Center in Southgate, Michigan (an outreach center for downriver neighborhoods), and I have met with their local directors.  We have also been talking with clergy and people from some of the other Orthodox churches, government agencies, and neighborhood business owners.

Our hope is to get involved and help make life better for us and for our kids' future.

Future Communications

Now that we have Our Blessing, a new Website, and are Creating a True Membership List, we have been exploring how to get our word out, specifically using our technology to better reach the Orthodox "lost sheep"  as well as, evangelizing the local communities.

Experience has proven that our E-Newsletter campaign has been a tremendous success.  Our Snail-Mail Program, along with utilizing the several media avenues at our disposal, has helped us to continue growing quickly.

Remember though:  That our best advertising is "By Word of Mouth" and we would like to let you know that we want you to come as often as you can, and bring your friends.
